Lot of Record → Tax Department → Register of Deeds
The tax department and register of deeds are the sources for deed searches. Currently working on amending the August 2, 1965 date. A lot which is part of an approved subdivision recorded in the Office of the Register of Deeds of Currituck County, or a lot described by metes and bounds recorded at the time it was originally subdivided and meeting all applicable subdivision and zoning regulations then in effect. This definition also includes lots for which a plat and/or deed is recorded and the lot was created prior to August 2, 1965; a lot upon which an existing structure is located provided a valid building permit was obtained; or a lot which at the time of creation met all subdivision and zoning requirements provided a plat is approved by the administrator and recorded with the Register of Deeds.

CAMA Minor permits are issued by Currituck County. Major and General permits are issued by the Elizabeth City office: (252) 264-3901.
Citizen Self Service → Currituck County Citizen Self Service
To access the Citizen Self Service program an email address and password are required. Once registered, you can search for and view building permits. To use the system for applying for permits, your account needs to be linked by staff with a Customer ID (CID). To link your account, email the following to Stacey.smith@currituckcountync.gov : email address, first and last name, company name, full mailing address, phone number, address of property owned in Currituck (if applicable), and contractor license number & trade (if applicable).
